Sorry it has been a while since I have blogged. These days not sure what to blog as sometimes I feel as if what I have to say is not really important to other things happening here in Japan. However I realize moving on is important to I will start blogging for frequently again. This should be a good weekend for me. Tomorrow I will attend the Shikoku Magic Friends monthly meeting in Takamatsu, then on Sunday I will attend a Hannami party. Hanami means watching flowers and it is when people go out to enjoy the Sakura Japanese Cherry Blossoms in the spring. There may not be much left as last weekend seemed to be the peak. But the important thing is I will be able to spend some time with some good old friends. We can learn a lot from Sakura, as they teach us about life and they have helped Japan recover emotionally over the past week or so. Anyways, until next time take care.

Inspire Magic Episode 2: Pray For Japan
Shikoku Magic Friends Charity Show and Street Magic
Yesterday the Shikoku Magic Friends Club held is 5th annual show. However this year we changed the event to raise money for the horrible quake and tsunami that hit Japan on Match 11, 2011. This year we performed only close-up and there was a great turnout. After the close-up show we headed to the Marugame Shopping Arcade in Takamatsu to continue to raise money. In cooperation with the Marugame Shopping District association we where able to put this event on. We don’t know how much money we raised yesterday bit we should know soon. It was a great event and I hope that with the money we raised us magicians can help out in the tragic event.

Japan Quake Day 4 March 14, 2011
Today is day 4 since the quake first struck. Today I tried to get back to normal but its difficult to let go what happened about 700 KM from where I am. In the morning it did a bit for the Magic Newswire with Dodd Vickers and James Clark about Japan so watch out for that here. James is heading over here to Japan on Tuesday to get with the rescue like he did in Haiti. Today some good news I was able to confirm that the following well known Japanese magicians are safe: Tomo Maeda, Ken Kuroki, Hiro Sakai, Yuji Wada, Shigeo Futagawa and the Onosaka Family (Magic Land). I am not sure where the picture that I posted in this blog is from it was making the twitter rounds but its the Japanese Self Defence force at work. If you know the source of the photo please let me know!

Bar Magician Competition March 5, 2011
Last night was the 5th Bar Magician Competition was held at Bar Intiki Magician. It was a long but good night. Sixteen magic competitors competed for the top prize. Jack Amano came out the clear winner last night. It has been a while since I have been able to go to the magic bar so I was happy to be a part of the event. The next magic competition that will be held at Bar Intiki Magician will be in October to celebrate the bars 4th year anniversary. I look forward to a great time then!

Going Digital

well I have been thinking recently that this year I should try to see if I can consume most of my content digitally. For example I will plan on buying only ebooks, digital magazines etc. I think that this year really will be the year that this can be done easily as most content, that I read anyways, is now all available digitally. Also being here in Japan it is sometimes hard to get a hold of magazines and books from North America. However now with online books and many digital magazines available internationally on the iPad it has become a lot easier to get a hold of them. During the year I give updates about how this is going. Should be fun and I find it exciting to try to make this change.

Magic Magazine Comes To The iPad!
Magic Magazine has come to the iPad! This is great for me because being in Japan it is hard to get the magazine at a good price. However now I can get it easily and at a good price. I just downloaded the magazine last night but so far I am enjoying the iPad layout for it. I look forward to how they will take further advantage this digital format. I am glad they went with an interactive version a and not just a PDF version. So far I recommend this. You canfind it here at the iTunes App store.

It now has been just over a year since I switched to Mac from windows and man I am happy at that change. As I posted last month I also bought an iPad which I love, not sure what I did without it. I will also have more time to work on some of my Internet Inspiremagic.com projects so keep a look out for some of those in in the next few months. Well now time to go and eat!
