Bar Magician Competition March 5, 2011

Last night was the 5th Bar Magician Competition was held at Bar Intiki Magician. It was a long but good night. Sixteen magic competitors competed for the top prize. Jack Amano came out the clear winner last night. It has been a while since I have been able to go to the magic bar so I was happy to be a part of the event. The next magic competition that will be held at Bar Intiki Magician will be in October to celebrate the bars 4th year anniversary. I look forward to a great time then!

Going Digital

well I have been thinking recently that this year I should try to see if I can consume most of my content digitally. For example I will plan on buying only ebooks, digital magazines etc. I think that this year really will be the year that this can be done easily as most content, that I read anyways, is now all available digitally. Also being here in Japan it is sometimes hard to get a hold of magazines and books from North America. However now with online books and many digital magazines available internationally on the iPad it has become a lot easier to get a hold of them. During the year I give updates about how this is going. Should be fun and I find it exciting to try to make this change.

Magic Magazine Comes To The iPad!

Magic Magazine App

Magic Magazine App

Magic Magazine has come to the iPad! This is great for me because being in Japan it is hard to get the magazine at a good price. However now I can get it easily and at a good price. I just downloaded the magazine last night but so far I am enjoying the iPad layout for it. I look forward to how they will take further advantage this digital format. I am glad they went with an interactive version a and not just a PDF version. So far I recommend this. You canfind it here at the iTunes App store.

ShrineWell yesterday I celebrated my 36th birthday and I am now ready to takeon 2011! This year in my blog I will be blogging about magic, techand stuff here in Japan. It now has been just over a year since I switched to Mac from windows and man I am happy at that change. As I posted last month I also bought an iPad which I love, not sure what I did without it. I will also have more time to work on some of my Internet Inspiremagic.com projects so keep a look out for some of those in in the next few months. Well now time to go and eat!

Busy and iPad!!!!

It has been a while since I have had time to blog. I have been busy lately getting ready for the winter season. However soon I will be able to get back to my regular blogging. Also last week I bought an iPad. And I love it. I am writing this blog post from it in the wordpress app. I will have a more magic related post this weekend but thought I should give a quick update and also test a post from my iPad.

Halloween Magic Fun

This year’s Halloween was awesome but very busy! My magic buddy Shinnosuke and I had shows together in Takamatsu Kagawa Prefecture. Our first show was a stage show at Yonden Plaza ( Shikoku Electric). We performed an hour stage show in their modern electricity show room. It was like performing in a very modern  home. There was a great turn out the the show was fun for both of us. This was the first time we performed a stage show together professionally and it was great fun. After that we hustled down the the other end of the shopping district in Takamatsu to perform close-up magic for people attended the shopping district Halloween event. We both were very tired, but had great shows and great fun. This week we will both be working the Intiki Magic Bar from Wednesday to Saturday. Should be fun!

Last Night’s Magic Friends Meeting

Last night’s magic meeting in Takamatsu had a great turnout. It’s a small club and most meetings have between 4 and 6 people. Last night we had 10 which was great. Our normal meeting this year consists of learning effects from the Japanese magic book “Encyclopedia of Card Magic” which is different than the English book of the same name. We started doing this in January of this year. Over these 10 months we have discovered many mistakes in the book. LOL If we were smart we should have kept detailed notes and sent them to the publisher. I am sure this book has not been reedited since it was originally published. Anyway its been fun going through the effects in this book. Two of our members, Terushita and Jack Amano will be competing in the AMA (Asia Magic Association) Convention in November. They both did a great job. It was a great meeting last night and I hope the next one will be able to keep up the momentum.
